The benefits of walking for PCOS, March 2023
While there is no cure for PCOS, lifestyle changes such as exercise can help manage its symptoms. A simple 10-30 daily walk can greatly improve PCOS symptoms and help PolyC's work effectively. Walking will help improve your mood, sleep and circulation. It's easy to say " well, I walk so much at work" but unfortunately that isn't enough. As a nurse, I was constantly on my feet but not losing the stubborn weight.
Walking can be an effective form of exercise for women with PCOS, as it is low-impact, easy to do, and can be done anywhere. Regular walking can help improve insulin sensitivity, which is an important factor in PCOS management. Insulin resistance can lead to weight gain and difficulty losing weight, which are common symptoms of PCOS.
In addition to improving insulin sensitivity, walking can also help with weight loss and improve overall cardiovascular health. It is recommended to aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise, such as brisk walking, most days of the week to achieve these benefits.
However, it is important to note that walking alone may not be enough to manage all PCOS symptoms. A comprehensive approach that includes a healthy diet, stress management, and other lifestyle changes may be necessary to effectively manage PCOS symptoms. It is always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new exercise program, especially if you have a medical condition like PCOS
